This major is offered in six campuses

Projects for the community enrich the education

This major educates professionals to work with children’s education, on the first years of elementary school, with education of young people and adults, and also to provide pedagogical support, such as direction, supervision and educational guidance.

In Araraquara, the program is intended to provide a high-quality education to pedagogues. These professionals must be able to work with children’s education and on the first years of elementary school and scholar management. In addition, they may work as teachers and principals, and develop activities linked to the coordination of areas, topics or projects. They also provide management and planning of actions, projects or activities and educational guidance for students’ improvement.

The major offered in Bauru is renowned for preparing professionals to work on children’s education, on the first years of elementary school and on educational management. Another characteristic of this major is the emphasis on academic research on the educational area.

In Marília, the major focuses on preparing students to work on children’s education. It also prepares them to work on the first years of elementary school and educational management and to value social inclusion – not considering only disabled students, but also the diversity of gender and ethnicity, the education of young people and adults and human rights.    Students may choose one of the mentioned topics to broaden their knowledge and make their end-of-course work. There is also interest in promoting research among students, giving them as options the areas of educational management, children’s and inclusive education.

In Presidente Prudente, the major is oriented towards children’s education, the first years of elementary school and activities linked to educational management. The professors are concerned about articulating theory with practice in the education of both teachers and managers. Students also participate in extension activities related to reading, jokes, games and specific courses from different areas. In addition, the future teachers have the possibility of participating in research groups and doing internships in areas such as Public Policies, Domestic Violence, Gender and Sexuality, Popular Education, Social Psychology, Philosophy and Education. The internships allow a conjoint work among students, professors from the university and teachers. The major also organizes events based on the demand of the scholar community and the results from the research groups, and deals with wider issues involving the educational universe.  These several activities performed at the major have contributed to the professional development of students, teachers and managers that already work on basic education in the region.

In Rio Claro, the basis of the major is centered in the professional identity and teaching. The goal is to educate professionals to work on children’s education, on the first years of elementary school, on the production and expansion of knowledge in the educational area and on the organization and management of systems, unities and projects, through a solid theoretical basis, which links theory and practice.  The classes are offered in the night period, but students are expected to get involved in practical activities developed in educational institutions, which demands certain flexibility in the daytime schedule.

The São José do Rio Preto major prepares pedagogues to work on children’s education, on the first years of elementary school and on the management of the teaching system as principals, supervisors, educational guides or pedagogic coordinators, in public and private institutions. The major also enables students to work in non-academic organizations, such as public and private companies and NGOs, preparing them to elaborate, organize, coordinate or perform projects and activities for the formation of human resources.

Students enrolled in the night period should have a flexible schedule during the day to make internships in schools and other practical activities.
