The University carries out the integration between teaching and research offering programs of high relevance, enabling innovation and experience to students who engage in numerous university extension projects, benefiting the community and allowing them to acknowledge the reality and needs of the region in which they are inserted.

CLASSIFICATION OF UNESP IN THE COMMUNITY

For the achievement of its fundamental mission, of providing answers to the needs of society, we decided to systematize the Unesp in the Community works in thematic areas and, the actions, in each thematic area, will be conducted according to programmatic lines defined, taking care to stimulate the interdisciplinarity, which assumes the existence of thematic interfaces and interactions. Special emphasis should be given to the participation of the Unesp in the Community sectors for the development and implementation of public policies aimed at the majority of the population, the qualification and permanent education of social system managers and the provision of new production means and processes, knowhow innovation and transfer, enabling the expansion of access to knowledge and the technological and social development of the country.

UNESP, considering the studies it was part in meetings of the Fórum de Pró-Reitores de Extensão das Universidades Públicas1, although that agency considers 8 thematic areas, has defined, through a CEPE2deliberation, 11 Thematic Areas to classify its Unesp in the Community actions and, to systemize them better, 50 Programmatic Lines have been also established in order to favor studies and reports on the production of that end-activity in the University, according to groupings and the articulation of individuals or groups that work in the same line.

Following, there are 02 charts with the respective definitions, one of them concerning the Thematic Areas and the other one the Programmatic Lines.
